50. Regulation 270 amended (Wearing motor bike helmets)
 
Regulation 270(3) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of passenger and substituting the following definition:
 
passenger, of a motor bike, includes a person on a passenger seat of the motor bike (including the pillion seat), or in a sidecar.

51. Regulation 271 amended (Riding on motor bikes)
 
Regulation 271 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a)
by omitting from subregulation (2) "sidecar)" and substituting "sidecar or on a seat designed for a passenger, other than a pillion seat)";
(b)
by omitting from subregulation (3) "sidecar)" and substituting "sidecar or other seat designed for a passenger)";
(c)
by omitting from subregulation (4) "sidecar)" and substituting "sidecar or other seat designed for a passenger, other than a pillion seat)";
(d)
by omitting subregulation (5) and substituting the following subregulation:
(5)
The rider of a motor bike must not ride with more passengers in a sidecar, or on a seat designed for a passenger, than the sidecar, or seat, is designed to carry.

Penalty: Fine not exceeding 10 penalty units.
