GENERAL PURPORT OR EFFECT OF THE ABOVEMENTIONED STATUTORY RULES

(1) Police Offences Amendment Regulations 2016

These regulations amend the Police Offences Regulations 2014 by prescribing the infringement notice penalties that apply in relation to certain offences under the Police Offences Act 1935.

(2) Road Amendment Rules 2016

These rules amend the Road Rules 2009 by incorporating a further round of, nationally agreed, changes to the Australian Road Rules. More specifically, the amendments-

(j) provide that, in certain circumstances, persons pushing motor bikes need not wear helmets; and

(k) provide that, in certain circumstances, riders of moving motor bikes are not required to sit astride their seats or keep both feet on the footrests; and
