1. In these regulations the Road Traffic Code, 1975, published in the Government Gazette on the 29th May, 1975 and amended from time to time thereafter by notices so published, are referred to as the principal regulations.

2. Regulation 301 of the principal regulations is amended by adding after subregulation (6) the following subregulation :-

(7) Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this regulation, where, for the purpose of temporarily controlling traffic it is expedient to do so, a member of the Police Force, patrolman or warden, may erect or cause to be erected, signs regulating the parking or standing of vehicles and any sign so erected shall be a valid and effective traffic sign for the purposes of these regulations.

3. Subregulation (6) of regulation 402 of the principal regulations is amended by adding after the word "weight" in line five of paragraph (b), the words "in tonnes"

4. Subregulation (2) of regulation 1607 of the principal regulations is amended --

(a) by deleting the word "or" in line five of paragraph (a) ;

(b) by substituting for the passage "1968 ." in line four of paragraph (b) the passage "1968 ; or" ; and

(c) by adding after paragraph (b) the following paragraph :-

(c) be of a type and standard specified in AS 1968-1974 Australian Standard Specification for Protective Helmets for Vehicle. Users published in 1974 by the Standards Association of Australia.
