ROAD TRAFFIC ACT, 1974-1976.

HIS Excellency the Governor in Executive Council acting under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act 1974-1976 has been pleased to make the regulations set out in the Schedule hereunder.

Principal
regulations.
1. In these regulations the Road Traffic Code, 1975, published in the Government Gazette on the 29th May, 1975 and amended from time to time thereafter by notices so published, are referred to as the principal regulations.
 
2. Subregulation (1) of regulation 103 of the principal regulations is amended by adding after the interpretation "children's crossing" the following interpretation--

"competent authority" means any government department, government instrumentality, statutory authority or municipality ; .

3 . The principal regulations are amended by substituting for regulation 1003 the following regulation :-

1003. Where-

(a) portion of a road is subject to work being done on, over or under it ; or

(b) a survey is being conducted at any point on a road, by a competent authority, the driver of a vehicle that is approaching or passing the place at which the work is being done or the survey is being conducted--

(c) shall comply with a direction given by a person who is apparently a servant of the authority ;

(d) shall not drive a vehicle over or past any portion of the road that lies between a sign bearing the direction, "Slow-30 kilometres per hour" and a sign bearing the direction, "End of 30 km/h limit", at a speed exceeding 30 kilometres per hour.

4 . Subregulation (2) of regulation 1607 of the principal regulations is amended by substituting for the passage "AS 1968-1974" in line one of paragraph (c), the passage "AS 1698-1974".
